Step 1
Determine locations for the data outlets
Mark four locations where you want network connections. Typically, these would be on inside walls at outlet height (although they may be located at light switch or any other height depending on your application). Using the stud finder, locate the outlets in stud cavities that do not contain HVAC, plumbing or major high voltage wiring.

Step 2
Cut mounting holes
Cut mounting holes class=
Each network outlet will be installed in an outlet bracket. Draw a rectangle (2 1/4 wide by 3 3/4” high) at your marked locations and cut the drywall. Insert an outlet bracket into each hole and use a screwdriver to secure the brackets with the flip out wings.

Step 3
Run cables to the network outlets
Run cables to the network outlets class=
Run a single Cat 5e cable from the enclosure location to each network outlet location. Cut the cables to an estimated length and feed down from the attic (or up from the basement) through holes drilled in the wall top (or bottom) stud to the enclosure location and the outlet locations.

Step 4
Connect cables to outlets
Connect cables to outlets class=
At each network outlet location, strip the Cat 5e cable and use the punch down tool to terminate the cable on an RJ45 insert. Snap the terminated cable into a 1-Port Wall Plate and mount in the outlet bracket.

Step 5
Connect cables to switch/router ports
Connect cables to switch/router ports class=
Mount the switch/router in the enclosure. Feed the Cat 5e cables into the enclosure. Strip the cables and use an appropriate tool to terminate each with an RJ45 plug. Plug each cable into a switch port on the switch/router. Plug the switch/router’s power supply into the duplex outlet at the bottom of the enclosure. Check that you have Internet access at all four remote network outlets. Re-secure the front enclosure cover with the provided hardware.

Step 6
Connect to the Internet through your new network!
